Festival and Parade - March 2, 2019

 

The Wetumpka Mardi Gras Festival will open at 9:00 am and the parade will roll at 1:00 pm.  Parade will utilize the extended Christmas on the Coosa route.  Parade will assemble at First Baptist Church, 205 W Bridge St.   Parade will follow W Bridge Street across Bibb Graves Bridge and take a left on E Bridge Street.  Then turn south or right onto Hill Street, right onto E Commerce and go in front of the Elmore County Courthouse.  Then turn left or south onto S Main Street and end at the Wind Creek Casino employee parking lot.  Download our Parade Route Map.

Vendors & Festival

 

The Wetumpka Mardi Gras Festival features over 40 vendors, 20 of them being food type vendors, there will be something for everyone. Foods include chicken on a stick, alligator, gumbo, smoked turkey legs, red beans and rice and much much more. There will be fun rides for children of all ages. Pony rides, water walker, a climbing wall and the zip ride. In addition, we will have a DJ onsite all day!   If you would like to be a vendor, download our Vendor Application Form.

Parade

Pawdi Gras - New For 2019

 

In honor of our Grand Marshal, Rea Cord, of Humane Society of Elmore County (HSEC,) we will be celebrting "Pawdi Gras!"   Pet owners are encouraged to dress up their pet and walk along in our parade.  Mardi Gras themed pets will be featured near the front of the parade.  There is no entry fee for the parade but donations to benefit the Humane Society of Elmore County will be collected by The Order of Cimarrón on day of parade.  .

 

Rea Cord with Humane Society of Elmore County was selected as our 2019 Parade Grand Marshal. Ms. Cord has served for 14 years as the Executive Director of the Elmore County Humane Society in Wetumpka. She is an active member of the Wetumpka Rotary Club and former Board member for the Wetumpka Chamber of Commerce. Prior to working for the shelter, Ms. Cord served for 21 years in the US Army. She is always serving, helping and showing up in the community when needed. She is beloved by many in the Wetumpka community but rarely recognized for the work she does, especially at the shelter.
